Cuba Serrano Superior coffee is the highest grade in Cuba’s mountain coffee classification – “Serrano” means mountain coffee, “Superior” is its top quality tier. Cuba produces relatively little coffee compared to other countries in the region, which means good Cuban speciality coffee rarely reaches European shelves. This one comes from the Sierra Maestra – Cuba’s only significant coffee-growing region, 100% Arabica grown at elevations between 800 and 1,200 metres above sea level.
In the cup, dark chocolate and nuts, warm spices and a distinct tobacco note – deep, earthy and unexpected. Low acidity and a thick body make this coffee intense without being aggressive. It is a great choice for those looking for a speciality coffee from Cuba with an exceptionally complex, dark profile – well beyond the standard chocolate or citrus notes.
Cuba Serrano Superior coffee performs best in an espresso machine or moka pot, where it delivers a thick shot with a creamy foam and a long, tobacco-and-chocolate finish. It can also be brewed Turkish-style, where the spice and tobacco notes come through particularly clearly. We especially recommend it to those looking for a coffee that is rare, bold and genuinely distinctive – the kind that does not appear in every shop.
