Peru Tunki coffee beans are a coffee from Peru with one of the highest scores in our entire range – 86 SCA points – and an organic certification confirming that quality here goes hand in hand with responsible farming. The 100% Arabica beans of the Caturra and Catimor varieties come from the San Pedro region at 1,700 metres above sea level and are processed using the washed method, which draws out aroma clarity and an elegant profile. Peru rarely appears on the speciality coffee map – and that is entirely undeserved.
In the cup, notes of milk chocolate and nuts interweave with citrus freshness and an accent of ripe berries. The coffee has low acidity, a delicate, silky body and a surprisingly complex aftertaste for a coffee with such a gentle character. It is a great choice for those looking for a Peruvian speciality coffee with a refined, multi-layered profile – simultaneously sweet, fruity and chocolatey.
Peru Tunki coffee beans are dedicated to alternative brewing methods – drip, Chemex and AeroPress, which allow their fruity and chocolate notes to fully develop without compromise. We do not recommend them for espresso machines – they deserve a slower brew that draws out every layer of flavour. We especially recommend them to anyone who wants to discover why Peru is one of the most underrated speciality origins.
