Extra Turquino Special coffee takes its name from Pico Turquino – Cuba’s highest peak in the Sierra Maestra range. 100% Arabica ripens here in natural shade among a diverse range of plant and shrub species, processed using the washed method. Slow ripening in a biodiverse environment builds a flavour complexity that open-sun cultivation simply cannot produce. The coffee has been awarded 83 SCA points.
In the cup, sweet chocolate and dried fruits, a delicate citrus note and deep molasses sweetness – a subtler and more fruit-forward profile than typical dark Cuban coffees. In espresso: very rich body, floral undertones and a long, sweet finish. It is a great choice for those looking for a speciality coffee from Cuba on its elegant, complex side – not smoky and tobacco-tinged, but fruity and sweet.
Extra Turquino Special coffee works best in an espresso machine or moka pot, where the richness of the body fully reveals itself. It can also be brewed in a French Press or drip. We especially recommend it to those who enjoy coffees that are intense in aroma but gentle in flavour – and want to taste for themselves why Cuban coffee has such a unique reputation.
