Premium Coffee
Papua New Guinea SHG coffee holds two points of interest at once. First: the beans are the peaberry variety – a natural mutation in which only one seed develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the usual two, producing a more concentrated flavour. Second: the SHG grade – Strictly High Grown – 100% Arabica from the Simbu Province grown at elevations between 1,600 and 2,200 metres above sea level, processed using the washed method.
In the cup, refreshing citrus and berries, with caramel and chocolate underneath – a complex but balanced profile. The coffee has medium acidity and a well-defined depth of flavour. It is a great choice for those looking for a speciality coffee from Papua New Guinea with a wide flavour spectrum – fresh fruitiness and warm sweetness in a single cup.
Papua New Guinea SHG coffee works well in alternative brewing methods – drip, pour-over and French Press, where the citrus and berry notes come through clearly. It can also be brewed in a moka pot. We especially recommend it to those who want to discover something genuinely rare – coffee from a place that rarely appears on European specialty shelves, in a variety that makes up only a few percent of any given harvest.
